Synopsis:
Del Kennedy is living on the precipice: of life, sobriety and self-worth. A broken jazz musician, who hasn’t played in years, he suddenly must deal with fatherhood and responsibility when his three estranged sons land on his doorstep after the tragic death of their mother. In turn, moving far from their Chicago home to Atlanta’s East Point neighborhood, the boys, Cole (15), Eli (14), and DG (6), struggle to understand the tragedy as they tangle with a new challenge – how to relate to a father they hardly know.
While the premise of East Point focuses on Del Kennedy and the boys, intertwined with Del’s climb back onto the Jazz stage, the series is rooted in the middle-class struggles of all families. It will address relevant social issues such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, racism, homelessness, homophobia, sickness, and poverty. It will deal with love and loss as it portrays a life that is not always easy; with poignant moments that offer hope through the sadness and joy of every experience.
